Two years after lockdowns were first imposed in the Netherlands and much of the rest of the world, the debate is still raging – how much do they help to keep hospitalizations and deaths down? Assessing the effectiveness of lockdowns is complicated, and inseparable from deep ethical questions about when and whether lockdowns are justified.
