We like to think of ourselves as rational beings. But are we, really? In fact, irrationality pervades everyday life. From our tendency to be overly optimistic to the illusion of control, people just aren’t fully rational. But is this always a bad thing? Philosopher prof Lisa Bortolotti (University of Birmingham) shows that we are all irrational, but argues that this need not always be unhealthy.
